149 pages. One weekend. Plenty to discuss.

Dear book clubs, fantasy lovers, and readers with overflowing TBR piles,

I have a question for you.

Who says a book needs to be 500 pages long to leave a lasting impression?

As an author, I've spent a lot of time thinking about the length of my debut novel, Blood and Ink, the first installment in my urban fantasy romance series, Blood in the Quarter.

At just 149 pages, it's certainly on the shorter side compared to some of the massive fantasy novels sitting on bookstore shelves.

But recently, something occurred to me.

My book might actually be perfect for book clubs.

And here's why.

📖 A Story You Can Finish Without Rearranging Your Entire Schedule

We all love getting lost in a good book. But between work, family, responsibilities, and everything else life throws at us, finding time to tackle a 600-page novel isn't always easy.

That's where Blood and Ink comes in.

At 149 pages, it's a story you could potentially finish over a weekend, curled up beneath a blanket with your favorite drink.

No month-long reading commitment required.

Just you, a little supernatural trouble, and the mysterious streets of New Orleans.

Of course, I can't promise you'll emerge emotionally unscathed.

I'm an author. Making promises like that would be irresponsible. 😉

🩸 Vampires, Romance, and Morally Questionable Decisions

Welcome to New Orleans, where the supernatural lurks beneath the surface, secrets have a way of refusing to stay buried, and vampires are anything but ordinary.

Blood and Ink brings together elements of urban fantasy, supernatural mystery, slow-burn romance, and complicated relationships.

You'll meet characters with secrets, complicated pasts, and motivations that aren't always as straightforward as they first appear.

And then there are the vampires.

Some might steal your heart.

Others might make you question your judgment.

And a few?

Well, let's just say I wouldn't recommend inviting them over for dinner.

Unless you're volunteering to be the main course.

☕ A Little Book Club Debate Never Hurt Anyone

One of my favorite things about reading is discovering how differently people interpret the same story.

One reader might absolutely adore a character.

Another might want to throw the book across the room because of that very same character.

And honestly?

That's the kind of discussion I love.

Imagine gathering with your book club over coffee, wine, or your favorite snacks and discussing questions like:

- Which character did you trust the most, and did that trust change?

- Were there any characters whose actions you could understand, even if you didn't agree with them?

- Which relationship intrigued you the most?

- What secrets or unanswered questions caught your attention?

- If you found yourself in Vivienne's position, would you have made the same choices?

- And perhaps most importantly, which vampire would you trust with your life?

Personally, I suspect that last question could start a rather interesting debate.

Just don't let Malachi hear your answers.

🖤 Short Doesn't Mean Forgettable

I've always believed that what matters most about a story isn't how many pages it takes to tell it.

It's how those pages make you feel.

Did the characters stay with you after you closed the book?

Did you find yourself wondering what would happen next?

Did a particular scene make you smile, gasp, or stare at the page in disbelief?

Those are the experiences I want to give my readers.

Blood and Ink may be a shorter novel, but it opens the door to a much larger supernatural world.

And trust me, we're only getting started.

📚 One Book Could Be the Beginning of Something Bigger

Blood and Ink is the first installment in my Blood in the Quarter series.

While this book introduces readers to the characters and their world, there are more stories waiting to be told.

More secrets.

More supernatural conflicts.

More complicated relationships.

And yes, probably more emotional damage.

Consider yourselves warned.

For book clubs that enjoy discovering a series early, Blood and Ink offers an opportunity to meet these characters at the beginning of their journey.

You can discuss your theories, choose your favorites, and see how your opinions change as the world expands.

🦇 An Invitation to Book Clubs Everywhere

So, to all the book club organizers, librarians, fantasy romance readers, and anyone searching for something a little different for their next group read:

I'd love for you to consider Blood and Ink.

Whether your group meets at a local library, a coffee shop, someone's living room, or online, you're invited to step into my version of supernatural New Orleans.

Bring your favorite beverage.

Bring your theories.

Bring your friends.

And perhaps keep a little garlic nearby.

Not that it'll necessarily help.

Small book. Big bite.

And hopefully, a discussion that lasts long after the final page.
